It’s 2010 and Urban Tastes is almost 2! We intend to keep growing and adding more new and delicious meals each week. Many of the ingredients we us are organic and we continue to work on getting locally sourced items as well—we’ve recently started getting our salad greens (when available!) from the Takoma Park Farmers’ Market. As demand increases, we plan to start working with the Tuscarora Organic Growers Cooperative which is a great resource for local caterers and restaurants. Admittedly we’ve got a long way to go on the local scene, but we look forward to it immensely. As spring arrives, it will certainly become easier to obtain fresh, local produce that isn’t a leafy green. We are already thinking ahead to those warmer days. Tomato & Basil Side Salads? The popular Ratatouille Tart with tomatoes, eggplants and zucchini? Pasta with fresh tomato & ginger dressing… Until then, we’ll settle for the green stuff. What do you want to see on the Urban Tastes menu in spring?
Additionally, we hope to be able to add a second delivery day during the week. While it used to be Friday, we realize that wasn’t the ideal day for many people so now we’re planning a Thursday delivery. Please let us know if you’ll use that day. The more we hear from customers, the more likely it will happen.
You’ve probably also noticed that we’ve made the leap into the social networking world. We’re on both Facebook and Twitter now. Look for deals and steals on our Facebook page and see what’s up with us on Twitter. And of course, there’s this blog. Frankly, it’s been just a bit lacking until now. Starting this year though, you’ll see updates on what’s new at the markets, the occasional recipe, our inspiration, be it a book, a website or a person, and any sort of promotion that’s going on like our Valentine’s Day Promotion and the opportunity to win a $100 gift certificate.
Until those warm, spring days, enjoy the snow!
